According to Genesis 1: 28 in the first Book of The Bible you can read: "God said: " be fruitful and become many, and fill the earth.

Furthermore Genesis 2: 17 shows that Adam and Eve received the manuel to be successful and to be able to live a happy, healthy life forever on earth.

Genesis 2: 17 reads: "But for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad, you must not eat from it, for the day you eat from it you will certainly die. Adam knew that if he did not eat from the tree, he would not have died.

That command would have made no sense if Adam was meant to grow old and die anyway.

Romans 5: 12 explains why all humans grow old and finally die, in these words: " That is why, just as through one man sin ( lost of perfection ) entered into the world and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because they had all sinned. The meaning of the word "sin " is ( miss the goal".

God's purpose was that we multiply and live forever on earth. That goal will be repaired by Christ as promised in 1 Corinthians 15: 22 in these words. " For just as in Adam all are dying, so also in the Christ all will be made alive."

The conditions are the same , which were given to our progenitors, Adam and Eve.

According to 1 John 5: 20 Jesus came on earth to give us insight, so that we may gain knowledge of the one who is true. And we are in union with the one who is true, by means of his Son Jesus Christ. Which means that the only option is to live up to God's standards, if we want to be part of the righteous ones who are going to live on earth as promised in Psalm 37: 29.

So yes! God's command was for us to fill the earth and live according to His standards, which were dismissed by Adam and Eve. Read Genesis chapter 3, which is mankind's history.

The Bible is a letter from God and beneficial for our teaching and setting things straight., according to 2 Timothy 3: 16,17. And as Isaiah 45: 18 confirms that " The earth was formed to be inhabited". and Isaiah 11. 9 reads.

"The earth will be filled with the knowledge of Jehovah God", just as it was suppose to be, right from the beginning.

Did god give Adam dominion over the earth or just eden?

According to the biblical narrative in Genesis, God granted Adam dominion over the earth as a whole, not just the Garden of Eden. The command to "be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it" implies a broader stewardship over all of creation. This authority is seen as extending beyond Eden to encompass the entire world. Therefore, Adam's dominion includes both the garden and the earth at large.

What did God mean in Genesis 1 v28 by 27replenish the Earth27 - was Earth populated before?

No. The Bible does not say that the earth was populated before. It was created 'in the beginning'(Genesis 1:1) then sat 'formless and empty'(Genesis 1:2) until it was time to prepare it for life, form mankind from it's soil, and start the human family. At Genesis 1:28, the word 'REPLENISH' is misleading in some translations, and does not accurately convey the meaning of the scripture. If you look at most other translations, this word is translated as 'FILL' instead of 'replenish':"...Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it..." (NKJV)"...Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earthand subdue it..." (NIV)"...Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it..." (ESV)"...Increase and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it..." (DRA)"...Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and master it...."(CEB)"...Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it..."(DARBY)"...Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it..."(HCSB)At Genesis 1:28 we see God giving the first man and woman instructions to FILL the earth with family.Another Answer:There is a theory called the 'Gap Theory' that states that there is an amount of time between 'In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth,' in Genesis 1:1 and the following verses. God does not create in vain:Isaiah 45:18New King James Version (NKJV) 18 For thus says the Lord,Who created the heavens,Who is God,Who formed the earth and made it,Who has established it,Who did not create it in vain,Who formed it to be inhabited:"I am the Lord, and there is no other. The Hebrew words used in this chapter suggest God 'renewing' the face of the Earth as it is found in darkness and under water - yet it is physically there!Psalm 104:30New King James Version (NKJV) 30 You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; And You renew the face of the earth. So God in verse 28, as noted above, gives mankind dominion over the planet and all on it, telling them to fill it with their offspring and according to some, since Adam to now there have been approximately 100 billion humans born. Was there something else before mankind. The fossil evidence suggests there was but the Scripture is silent on this eon of time and only speaks of the age of man.
