How are droughts affected by global warming?

There seems to be a consensus among some sectors that most floods and droughts are due to global warming, because of the increase in the earth's temperature. There is also who holds an opposite view. Answer

Although GW may be a contributory cause to some more recent floods and droughts these are all natural events that form part of the Earths nature, these events have been around for many millions of years.

The temperature of the planet is largely governed by the intensity of activity on the sun. When the sun is very active, solar wind increases, deflecting the cosmic rays that bombard the earth. Cosmic rays seed cloud formation, so fewer cosmic rays mean marginally fewer clouds over the planet and the earth very slowly warms up (the effect is buffered by the vast oceans of the planet). When the sun is quiescent (shown by the absence of sun spots), more cosmic rays reach the earth, cloud cover slowly increases and the earth slowly, slowly cools. The sun was very active until the end of the 1990s, and the temperature of the planet slowly increased. The sun is now quiescent (no sunspot activity at the moment) and so we are now in a period of global cooling, not warming. The notion that Manmade CO2 is the engine for global warming is erroneous.
