elevation is how far from the surface of the earth something or someone is. how elevated it is. climate is what determines whether or not you get snow in the winter or if the leaves change colors and fall in Autumn.

The basic thing is that climate chamges when elevation does. The higher you go, the colder it is. It is because the troposphere temperature is lower at the top.
