Winds blow pollution all over the world, so emissions in one country can affect neighbouring countries and even faraway countries. So sulphur and nitrous oxides released from burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) are moved by the wind over other countries where they mix with the rain and fall as acid rain.

Why are we still using fossil fuels?

Fossil fuels and uranium

Why can't carpooling and mass transit systems eliminate the problem associated with burning fossil fuel?

Carpooling and mass transit systems can reduce the problem of burning of fossil fuels, but they can't eliminate the problem, as they use fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) themselves. Mass transit systems entirely powered by renewable energy (solar, wind, hydro, tidal and wave, geothermal among others) will eliminate the problem, but most electricity round the world is still generated by burning fossil fuels.

Why do you still use fossil fuels if there are renewable alternatives available?

The reason why we still use fossil fuels is because the alternatives are too expensive and people are unable to afford it as well as the fossil fuels are easy to get to so business can gain access and sell on. In the future hopefully we can use the alternatives but for now it has to be fossil fuels.

Does rockets use fossil fuels?

Most rockets today use liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen as fuel, not fossil fuels. These fuels react to produce water vapor and can be considered eco-friendly compared to fossil fuels. However, some rockets still use a combination of liquid oxygen and kerosene as fuel, which is a fossil fuel.

What happened to the normal process of decay which resulted in fossil fuels being formed?

That process still occurs today, the problem is that it has, and still does take an extremely long time. Plants were decaying for millions of years before humans discovered that fossil fuels were a good energy source, now it's only been about 150 years since then (the Industrial Revolution in Europe, when fossil fuels began to be used in large amounts), so very little fuel has been produced. It would take millions upon millions of years to replace the fossils fuels that we have consumed.

What are the benefits of saving fossil fuels?

This will make them last longer-but they will still run out sometime

What is the percent of the world's energy sources that are fossil fuels?

As of recent data, about 80% of the world's energy sources come from fossil fuels, which include coal, oil, and natural gas. This reliance on fossil fuels has significant implications for climate change and environmental sustainability. Efforts are ongoing to transition to renewable energy sources, but fossil fuels still dominate the global energy landscape.

How can roller coasters use fossil fuels?

Most, if not all, roller coasters are powered by electricity. Most electricity is still being generated by burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas). As this burning emits carbon dioxide you can clearly say that roller coasters are contributing to global warming by using fossil fuels.

Why is oil mined?

Basically, humans mine oil and other fossil fuels because, as the name might suggest, fossil fuels are still the main fuel provider for making electricity for households and business'. They are also used in making petrol and other such fuels for vehicles.

Will cars still be around in 2217?

By 2217 all the fossil fuels will have been used up so there will be no fossil fuel powered cars around then.

Why can't carpooling and mass-transit systems eliminate the problems associated with fossil fuels?

Carpooling and using mass-transit will only reducenot eliminate the amount of fossil fuels used. Since your still using a car, the car will require gas which is a fossil fuel.
