There are several different types of fronts, a warm front and a cold front. What these fronts do mainly is effect the temperature, the one that normally brings the rain is the cold front, because the cold air is colliding with the warm air already in place.

When a cold front passes over, it lowers the temperature, here's a picture of what this front looks like on a weather map:

When a warm front passes over, it warms the temperature, but when a cold front comes through right after that, it can spark some severe weather, here's a picture on what this front looks like on a weather map:

What is weather like after a cold front passes through?

hey not sure if this is any help : Eleanor Porter Weather conditions As a warm front passes In a warm sector Just after a cold front passes temperature Warming suddenly increase Steadily dropping Cloud cover Stratus, sometimes cumulonimbus Cumulus Cumulus precipitation Light drizzle none Showers then clearing Wind direction Changing from (south to southeast) to … (south to southwest) Southwest West to north west pressure Levelling off increase Rising steadily

What are signs of a warm front?

Signs of a warm front include a gradual increase in temperature, a shift in wind direction from easterly to southerly, and the presence of high, wispy cirrus clouds followed by lower, thicker clouds bringing precipitation. This front typically brings warmer and more humid air along with potential thunderstorms.

What does a weather map look like?

when a warm air mass displaces a cold air mass. the signs a warm front is approaching is seeing high cirrus clouds. the denser cold air wedges up the oncoming warm air-this is called frontal lifting or frontal wedging- and forms alto stratus then stratus clouds causing a drizzle. after a warm front is clear skies and sun

Why is the weather associated with a cold front usually of short duration?

Weather is associated with both kinds of fronts, just different kinds of weather. A warm front will typically have increasing temperatures, partly to mostly cloudy skies with low cloud base heights and sometimes a gentle, uniform rainfall. A cold front will typically have decreasing temperatures, partly to mostly cloudy skies with moderate to high cloud base heights, and sometimes heavy, showery rain.

How did the hikers behave like earth scientists?

The hikers behaved like earth scientists by observing, analyzing, and interpreting the natural features around them while on their hike. They likely paid attention to the geology, ecology, and weather patterns of the area, just like earth scientists do in their research. They may have also collected samples or data to further their understanding of the environment.
