I want to avoid being political here, so will do my best to stick with the facts. Bush waged unprovoked war, planned during his first month in office. He did so with even greater zeal than that which he waged war on science, our environment, and the US economy. He took a great, prosperous nation, and eroded its national respect and standing in the world, through endorsing torture, engaging in domestic spying, illegal wiretapping, and operating foreign gulags. He enshrouded the operation of his administration in secrecy, eroding the confidence of the citizens in their government. Finally, he did his best to erode the wall of separation between church and state, and to finance religious activities for partisan political purposes.

It will likely take decades to undo the damage he has done.
