Over millions of years fossil fuels were created by dead plant and animal matter. They are deep in the ground because, just like onions, soil has layers :) and over millions of years the ground gets covered up by even more ground. It's the same concept with archeology. Digging pots and other things out the ground. :)

What comes out of the ground with crude oil?

Natural gas and water may be produced along with the crude oil. For this reason, when the crude oil is produced, it must be processed and the gas and water separated out, so the oil can be sold to refineries.

Why are gas deposits found on top of oil deposits?

Gas deposits are often found on top of oil deposits because natural gas is less dense than oil, so it tends to migrate upwards through the rock layers. As oil forms and collects deeper underground, the gas migrates upwards along with it. Over time, the gas tends to accumulate on top of the oil within the rock formations.

How is crude oil obtained from the ground?

You drill for it. It's almost never found on the surface.Answer:Crude oil is made from the organic materials deposited in sediments millions of years ago. It collects in porous rocks under the ground or in large heavy oil sands on the Earth's surface in several locations such as Alberta Canada. Interestingly the largest source of crude is in these surface deposits. There are several ways of getting the oil from where it is to where you want it:The oil sands are mined for their oil by scooping up the oily sand and washing the oil out with hot water. The collected oil is collected and piped off to refineries.Light conventional oil is obtained by drilling down to the oil containing formations. Pressure on the formation forces it up the drilled hole to be captured for refining.COnventional oil in some fiels must be pumped up as there is no "push" form cas in the formation. Some very heavy oils must be heated up in the formation to allow them to flow easily enough to be pumped upSome gas wells contain a significant amount of oil in the natural gas (like water droplets in the steam from a kettle). In this case the gas comes up carrying the oil with it. As the gas cools the oil condenses and is collected.

How do we obtain fossil fuels?

Coal, natural gas and oil are found under the ground. Coal is mined in one way or another, gas is drilled for and oil is also drilled for. There is only so much of these and we will run out of them. They are not renewable because it takes millions and millions of years to make them.

What is gas flaring and its effects on the environment?

Gas Flaring is a desperate burning of natural gas that is associated with petroleum when it is emitted into the air. It is pumped from the ground into the air during burning. Usually, the oil prospecting companies do not set out to exploit the natural gas, but when it is incidental to the exploitation of petroleum, they will have to burn it so as to enable the tapping of the oil. However, this does not mean that the natural gas could not be exploited for utilization. It could be that the company does not have required technological instrument to harness it in the process of oil exploitation.

because when people are mining way under the ground they eventually dig to deep so they find coal, natural gas, nuclear power and uranium

How much oil is in gas?

Gas is produced from oil.. so in reality gas is 100% refined oil.

really deep, so deep that people have trouble fixing it when an drill breaks YOUR WELCOME

How much land is needed to produce one gallon of gas?

Technically, a hole about ten inches wide or so is all that is required to extract oil from the ground. There really is no relationship between areas of land and the production of gas. Gas is manufactured in a refinery after being extracted through oil wells.

Is 4 feet deep?

no if you are smaller than four feet then its deep for you if you are over four feet its not that deep so then you can touch the ground.
