One Answer:

When the sun formed less than 5 billion years ago there was a lot of dust and gas in an orbit around the sun in the form of a disc.

Fragments colliding together would have gained more gravitational attraction pulling in more fragments until the planets were formed, Earth being just one of those planets.
The Solar System, and therefore the Earth, formed from a enormous molecular cloud of gas & dust created by ancient supernovas. One theory, "The Little Bang" postulates that the shockwave from a nearby supernova added to & triggered the coalescing of our sun & the planets from the cloud. Once started, gravity & centripetal force did the rest. Everything in our solar system (including you) is made from stardust.
