when a colliding boundary collides and pushes up a mountain. an example of a fault block mtn. range is the Himalayas.

Actually the previous answer is incorrect. They form when the tenison pu on Earth is so great that it caused large blocks of rock to move down relative to the other causing a change in elevation and a moutain to form. The previous answer was how folded mountains form....

What are the 5 basic types of mountains in the world?

The five basic types of mountains in the world are fold mountains, fault-block mountains, dome mountains, volcanic mountains, and plateau mountains. Fold mountains form through the folding of rock layers, fault-block mountains result from the movement of tectonic plates, dome mountains are created by the uplifting of rock layers, volcanic mountains form from volcanic activity, and plateau mountains are elevated flat surfaces.

Are volcano's mountains?

Not all volcanoes are mountains though most do form mountains. Some volcanoes form as simple fissures in the ground. There is a so-called supervolcano in Yellowstone that, does not take the form of a mountain. Kimberlite volcanoes also erupt too violently to form mountains.

Large anticlines form what kind of mountains?

Large anticlines form ridge-like mountains with a U or V-shaped profile. These mountains typically have an elongated shape due to the folding of rock layers, with the oldest rocks found in the center of the fold. Examples include the Appalachian Mountains in North America and the Zagros Mountains in the Middle East.

What type of fault does not form mountains?

A transform fault does not typically form mountains. Transform faults are characterized by horizontal motion and sliding past each other, so they do not promote vertical displacement that creates mountains like convergent or divergent boundaries do.
