Hopefully dis has helped i live in australi and was there at the time, some of my friends died it was very sad , :(
These are effects, which are all very bad, but here are some responses:
Australia is a very flat country. Running down the eastern coast is the Great Dividing Range, so there are the usual coastal plains there. To the west of the range are vast expanses of flat country, and when there is a lot of rainfall (which happens infrequently), the rivers quickly swell and break their banks, sending massive floods across these great plains.
Of course, another major reason why floods happen Australia is, quite simply, because in some years there may be an unusual amount of rain.
Australia spends many years in drought, often caused by the El Niño effect. When an El Niño occurs, changes in sea surface temperatures cause a shift in air pressure which, in turn, can result in climatic anomalies, such as severe droughts in Australia. These years are punctuated by years of normal rainfall, but occasionally, Australia gets the opposite to an El Niño, which is La Niña. This means that weather conditions, etc, are in reverse to those seen during El Niño, and Australia experiences far more rain than usual.
When this happens, many parts of Australia will see gradually increasing rainfall over the period of several months. The ground becomes too saturated to hold any more water. This often occurs during the spring and summer season, which is also cyclone season. Add to the already super-saturated ground the effects of a cyclone which becomes a rain depression once it crossed the coast, and the scenario is one of excessive rainfall leading to the ground becoming waterlogged. (This was the pattern that led to both the Brisbane floods of 1974 and 2011).
Floods can cause local loss of life and property. The effects on the local economy can be significant and long lasting.
the impact of flooding can impact a lot of people in impact the whole of the economy and a lot of people can loose there lives
Flash floods are dangerous because they happen suddenly It rains VERY hard, and then it floods up.
Along the coastl lines
There might be floods that can threaten by landslides
The cumbrian floods happened because smeone took a huge crap and flushed the toilet too many times
Both are natural disasters that are weather-related (at least most of the time in the case of floods). Both can be deadly and very destructive. Tornadoes and flash floods can happen suddenly and violently.
Most of the floods in Australia happen in the northern more tropical areas because it receives the greatest amount of rain.
The Floods that happen suddenly are called Flash Floods.
I recommend checking with local news sources or websites like the National Weather Service for real-time updates on current flood locations. Stay informed about any warnings or advisories in your area.
They mostly occur in South America and Mexico where the land is dry.
