One way is to simply boil off or evaporate the water, and the MagSulfate will crystalize in the bottom. In water being used for drilling, Sulfates are a problem, so we hit it with Lime (Calcium), the Calcium will combine with the sulfate, and the Calcium Sulfate will precipitate out. The Magnesium will combine with the OH anion and the water PH rises because MgOH is caustic. We then use a little acid to adjust the Ph back down.

Hope this helps!

How would you separate lead sulphate from a mixture of lead sulphate and lead chloride?

Lead sulphate is insoluble in water, while lead chloride is soluble. You can separate the two compounds by adding water to the mixture, which will dissolve the lead chloride and leave the lead sulphate as a solid precipitate. You can then filter out the solid lead sulphate to separate it from the soluble lead chloride.

How do you prepare magnesium sulphate in lab?

To prepare magnesium sulfate in the lab, you would typically dissolve magnesium oxide or magnesium carbonate in dilute sulfuric acid. The reaction between the magnesium compound and the sulfuric acid will form magnesium sulfate and water. The solution can then be concentrated and crystallized to obtain solid magnesium sulfate.
