the main principal is photoelectric effect.....when the incident light absorbed on the surface of solar cell it generates electron-hole pair. which then generates the current. As our cell acts as P-N junction diode

photovoltaics (PV) are the direct conversion of sunlight into electrical power.Let's take a look at what a solar PV system comprises of, then we'll explain how the solar panels work.

Solar Power Generation Systems begin with the solar module. Solar modules capture solar energy and generate direct current (DC) electricity. Inverters (power conditioners) convert DC into AC (alternating current) to run many common appliances and equipment.

Photovoltaic means electricity from light.

A solar PV system uses the natural energy from daylight in the form of solar radiation to generate electricity. This is different technology to solar thermal systems used for heating and hot water.

A charge is placed across the solar cell and as the energy from the sun hits the silicon, an electron is released from the atom. Due to the charge across the solar cell, this electron then flows towards the positive layer. Once you have an electron flow, a current is generated. This direct current is converted by an inverter in the system to an alternating current (AC) at the same level as the national grid.

A solar collector works to convert and concentrate solar energy into a more usable form. For example, a thermal collector may use a parabolic array of mirrors to focus, direct, and reflect the light of the sun to a smaller point where the heat can be used to drive some sort of turbine engine by heating the driving fluid. Another type of collector may use a flat panel array of solar photovoltaic cells to convert solar energy directly into electricity. Some metals exhibit a photoelectric property whereby when the metal is exposed to light, it causes electrons to be emitted. These metals may be arranged in a valence-covalence band configuration which generates the actual voltage within the array.

Alternate Answer:

The collector takes in energy that comes from the Sun. Usually the energy from the Sun is converted into heat which is used to heat water which can be routed to a house or a business, where it can be used to heat the home or business. One man used 8 large collectors to heat a pool for his son. His son's muscles didn't work so well after a car accident, so the father felt a heated pool could be used to help his son exercise in the water. He found the water had to be heated to 92 degrees F before his son's muscles loosened up. His collectors were not enough and he also burnt wood to heat the water for the pool.

Some collector's can take the energy from the Sun and make electricity. The electricity can then be used like any other electricity, such as to power lights in a house. Some solar collectors are used along highways to power Rest Stops or signs to make the highway more safe. I have a little toy car that will drive itself along when you place it in the Sun.

Some collectors are designed so they can store up the heat so it can be used at night. When my family visited Solar One in California years ago, they had built the system to make electricity, but also to store the heat for four more hours so they could provide electricity to California during the peak hours in the evening.

Some people design their houses like a collector. My dad built a house and had a big window on the south side to catch the Sun's heat in the winter when the Sunlight went directly into the house.

Some collectors are made so they can focus the energy from the Sun to create hotter water or higher temperatures. When I was young I took a mirror and cut it into strips and adjusted the strips so all of the light was focused on an area lthe size of one of the strips. It was a lot hotter. Later I learned the formulas for how to bend the mirror to focus the light into a line or to a point. When you do that, you can make a very high temperature in a small area.

Have fun learning about solar collectors.

Based on greenhouse effect principle, the active solar collectors use solar energy to heat a heat containing medium at very high temperature. This is then converted into electricity with the help of a power conversion subsystem. Solar heating by air and solar heating by fluid are the two types of active solar collectors used currently.

What term is used to describe incoming solar radiation?

25% is absorbed by clouds.25% is reflected by clouds.45% is absorbed by the earth's surface.5% is reflected by the earth's surface. So 50% reaches the surface of the earth (But 5% of that is reflected).

How does a active tendon system work- earthquake?

The last answer posted: "nothing"Well I have a WISE answer, and it's not unnecessary like "nothing".Here's the answer: The active tendon system works much like the mass damper system in the roof. Sensors notify a computer that the building is moving. Then, the computer activates devices to shift a large weight to counteract the movement. Now THAT'S what you call an answer, and that's what everyone is here for.- TheGoldDigger1.0

Why does denaturing by temperature or pH make an enzyme non-functional?

Active site of an enzyme is fixed for particular substrate, or you can understand it better via lock-key theory, in which substrate acts as a lock and active side of the enzyme as a key, and you know well that each lock has a specific key to make it unlock. So if active site of an enzyme is altered due to any reason, it can not be fixed into the its particular substrate, and functioning of an enzyme obliviously requires a substrate.

Explain some of the limitations of solar energy?

solar energy is available only when the sun is shining. Solar collectors and cells work less efficiently on cloudy days. they don't work at all at night. and during winter, when days are short, the collectors and cells generate less energy.

Both. Photoelectric cells work off light, and thermal collectors depend on heat.

How does soler power work?

With solar cells, photons in light knock electrons off of the metal surface. This flow of electrons is called electricity. There are also solar collectors that utilize the heat from the sun to heat water etc.
