Acid rain effects water life really badly. Fish and plants in the oceans and lakes may end up dying because it is really hard of them to survive in acidic lakes. You can recognize a lake that died of acid rain when it has clean and crystal water. But the reason they look clean is because there are very little fishes and plants living in them. Most are unable to survive.

Acid rain affects the environment more that it affects the weather. Acid rain is created by hazardous chemicals that get trapped in the atmosphere mixing with the natural weather pattern. When the rain does fall with the chemicals, it pollutes water, destroys trees and harms wildlife.

Rain in a way cleans the air pollutants by natural rain cycle process. The dirty air condenses as it rises and precipatation starts to form. The heavier deposits will rain down and clear the sky. The dirty rain that landed on earth will soon once again evaporate to the sky. The evaporated rain will be clean taking up the ligtest water molecules and the process starts over again, cleaning some pollutants from the air.

acid rain can affect the environment in many different ways. Trees and plants are one of the things that are affected by acid rain. Here are some of the ways how trees are affected

  • acid rain takes away the wax coat from the leaves which protects them, The leaf will then turn brown and will die.
  • Acid rain will go into the soil and disolve/wash away the nutrients(food) for the trees which will make the trees grow more slowly.
  • It will make the leaves harder to photosynthesis. (I think that's how you spell it)

As you can see there are many different ways how trees and plants and leaves can be affected by acid rain. If we try to reduce the amounts of air pollution made, less trees will be harmed by acid rain.

Water:

Acid rain is measured in PH. Acid rain is PH 4. PH 0 has he most amount of acid in it. The PH scale ends at PH 14. So, PH 14 is the one with no acid in it. Our drinking water, is ph7, same as our human blood. So ow that you understand what the PH scale is, let's move on.

  • Under pH 4= no living things will survive.
  • at pH 4= only frogs will survive.
  • pH 4.5= trouts (a type of fish) and other fish will die.
  • pH 5= Mayflies die and fish eggs will not be able to survive.
  • pH 505= water snails will die.

In parts of North America, many laes have a pH below 5 because acid rain has made them acidic, well as most lake and streams have a pH at 6&8. Lakes become more acidic when it is spring because the snow melts and more water flows into them.

Acid rain raises the acidity of water supply damaging plant and wild life. Many populations of fish are killed after a sudden increase in acidity due to acid rain.

What effect does acid rain have?

Burns your skin. Kills plants. The biggest effect of acid rain is on lakes and streams. It makes the water in them acidic. Fishes are not able to survive in this acidic water. This causes damage to trees. Acid rain also accelerates the decay of building materials and paint. The pollutants generated by acid rain also harm the human health.
