In an Ice Age, temperatures actually do not become that much colder than they are today; they is only a great difference in glacial areas (ex: Canada, Scandinavia, Russia). In fact, the Ice Age's average temperature was only 5 C less than what it is today. Meaning if today's average temperature is 14 C, then the Ice Age's average temperature was 9 C. You will find colder temperatures than that almost everywhere on the planet today. Also, ice caps/glaciers form generally around the northern portion of the northern hemisphere and southern portion of the Southern Hemisphere. This then causes sea levels to shrink, making more land. For example, when an Ice Age happens then the island of Great Britain and Ireland become connected to continental Europe.

We are in an Ice Age now! I just thought i would tell you this answer sucks dick

We live in an interglacial period within an Ice Age.

An interglacial period is a warm spell between periods of intense cold.

The present Ice Age started about 2.5 million years ago and is expected to continue for many more years.

When the ice does return for most of us, we will have to move to warmer areas nearer the equator.

Not many people realise it, but we are in an ice age now.
It began about 2.6 million years ago and we are living in a warm period, called an interglacial period.
Before the ice age started there was almost no ice in the Arctic in winter.
Of course, when the interglacial is over we will have mile thick ice over Canada, most of USA, Northern Europe and Russia unless the ice age stops because of global warming.
