the closer you are to water in the winter the colder it is, due to the winds blowing off it. although the closer you are to water in the summer the warmer it is because water retains heat better than land.

∙ 11y agoOceans moderate the temperatures of nearby land because water heats and cools much more slowly than land. Therefore, winds coming from the ocean usually deter hot or cold extremes in coastal regions like California, Florida, and other states. However, places toward the center of a country or continent will often have these hot and cold extremes during summer and winter. This occurs because they are secluded from the oceans and do not get the moderated weather from the oceans.

nearness to water, prevailing winds, vegetation, altitude, latitude are all factors affecting michigans climate, but i do beleive nearness to water and winds is the most effective here.
whether it is closer to the equator or not varies what the climate would be
Water affects climate because, wherever there is water it is cooler, and it creates more plant life.

elevation, distance from the equator, and nearness to large bodies of water. Prevailing winds, nearness to land masses.
