How does the slope of the land affect the amount of soil eroded?

The amount of soil erosion depends on length of the time quantity of land mass natural factors like wind temperature water and the hight difference of surround material. Slope is a major factor to affect this process more slope means much easier to drift the soil

What is an example of soil erosion?

The most common causes of soil erosion are water and wind. Erosion is simply the movement of particles by an outside force. In this case by water or wind. An example of soil erosion would be when heavy rain creates a small valley in a soil slope. The soil particles that were once there have been moved by the force of the water flowing down the slope. How can farmers keep their topsoil?

Why doesn't a tornado happen when just cold air meets or hot air meets?

Because warm and cold air alone won't produce the rotation needed for a tornado. First, the warm air mass must be moist so that when the collision occurs thunderstorms form. Second, the speed and/or direction of the wind must vary with altitude in what is called wind shear. This tilts thunderstorms, separating the updraft from the downdraft and thus allowing them to become stronger last last longer. Second, the wind shear creates rolling air masses that can start the thunderstorms rotating. Under the right conditions a tornado can develop from this rotation. How exactly this happens is not fully understood.

What part of a sand dune is characterized by a gentle slope?

A sand dune is a desert feature that forms as a result of wind or rain action towards one side. The sand dune usually forms towards the dominant side of the wind direction and can vary in gradient.

What is windward slope?

the slope which the direction of the wind blows.

What Part of a sand dune is characterized by a pronounced slope?

The upwind direction of a sand dune has a gentle slope. A steep slope is on the downwind side. The pronounced slope of a sand dune is called a slip face. Sand erodes from the wind off the slip face. To learn more about sand dunes, visit http://www.tulane.edu/~sanelson/geol111/deserts.htm.

If you climbed up the steep side of sand dune is it likely tht you traveled in the directions the wind was blowing?

The steep face of a mobile sand dune is in the lee of the prevailing wind. Therefore, to climb the steep face you would be going against the prevailing wind.
