Best Answer

Over time, wind can carve stone by means of erosion. The wind can carry tiny particles of sand and stone and over time, carve little by little from larger stones.

Another Answer

Some rocks have been so abused by wind that they develop a shape that reflects the source of winds. These are called ventifacts, and are found in Antarctica and in other remote, windy locales, where they have remained windblown for centuries.

Usually, unless there is a natural cleveage in the stone, it will not break apart, but it will lose mass and conform to a shape determined by the winds.
