Gasoline is composed of hydrocarbons and its make up is dependent upon the manufacturer. Its freezing point is much lower than anything you would find in nature on earth. Common gasoline has a flash point (lowest point of combustion) and -97F so its freezing point is at least below that.
Hot dry air alone is unlikely to cause wood to catch fire. However, if the temperature is high enough and there is an ignition source present, such as a spark or flame, the hot dry air can contribute to the wood catching fire more easily due to its reduced moisture content.
a simili for hot weather is " it's freezing hot outside"
no, it will not explode. even if a flame is present the stream of galoine will leak onto the ground igniting. the stream of gas moves to fast for the fire to move up and into the gas tank/can. However, some bullets have black powder diluted onto the projectile, and theoretically, if this happened while you shot the gasoline tank; it would explode.
The Ring of Fire is a region in the Pacific Ocean known for its frequent earthquakes and volcanic activity. The temperatures within the Ring of Fire vary depending on the specific locations of volcanic activity, but volcanic eruptions can reach temperatures as high as 1,300 degrees Fahrenheit.
I have read ( via the Internet) the flame front for gasoline is 40 to 50 cm / sec. My questions are ... 1) under what CR ? 2) for what octanes ? 3) Under what loading parameters ? -Ted Hart
Never ever use water on a gasoline fire or the fire will just spread. Smother it with sand, dirt, or a fire extinguisher specifically made for a gasoline fire.
A special fire extinguisher made for gasoline fires.
Water should not be used to extinguish a gasoline fire because the gasoline will stay on top of the water which can spread the fire quicker. The best thing to use is a fire extinguisher.
Neither a gasoline or electrical fire should be put out by water. A gasoline fire should be put out by a fire extinguisher labeled A B C. An electrical fire should first have the power switched off. Then the fire extinguisher should be used.
Gasoline starts to burn at 495 F.
Fire burns with the fire triangle. Heat, oxygen, and fuel (wood or gasoline).
Apply water to gasoline or diesel fire
I recomend hot water as gasoline is still an oil product and will be greasy
Gasoline should not be disposed of just anywhere. It can have harmful effects on the environment. Gasoline can also catch on fire. Gasoline can be recycled.
