∙ 15y agoCopper has been used since about 8000 bc when it replaced stone as a material for tools. It is produced by reduction of copper ore from carbon which includes coal or charcoal. A caveman probrably discovered small amounts in te camp fire after lining it with rocks which just happened to be copper ore.
