the exact reason as to how it is formed is still under debate but scientist think that it's a static discharge. to sum it up, they believe that the water and other molecules in the storm cloud gets moved around so much that they rub against each other thus creating static electricity (kinda like when you rub a balloon against your hair but times like a million). when the cloud has a lot of electricity built up, it tends to want to find somewhere to let it loose. usually it's within the cloud but sometimes, it strikes the ground. these lightning bolts have tremendous energy and it's said that a lighting bold is hotter than the surface of the sun!
Thunder and lightning typically form in cumulonimbus clouds, which are large, towering clouds associated with thunderstorms. These clouds are formed by rising warm air that cools and condenses into water droplets, which then collide and create an electrical charge. When this charge is discharged as lightning, it heats the air around it rapidly, causing the sound we hear as thunder.
Cumulonimbus clouds are responsible for producing thunderstorms. These towering clouds are formed by strong updrafts of warm, moist air that lead to the development of thunder, lightning, and heavy precipitation.
Hail is formed in severe thunderstorms with strong updrafts that carry raindrops to high altitudes where they freeze. It is not always present in the atmosphere but occurs when specific conditions are met in thunderstorms.
Cumulonimbus clouds are formed by strong convection currents. These clouds are tall and dense, often associated with thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.
That is called a thunderstorm. Thunderstorms are common weather events characterized by heavy rain, strong winds, lightning, and thunder.
Yes. Thunderstorms cause the vast majority of lightning.
Lighting strikes at objects
Thunderstorms actually produce lightning and the thunder is from lightning crashing and hitting something
Both tornadoes and lightning are produced by thunderstorms.
A cumulonimbus (Cumulus) has thunderstorms and also thunder and lighting
Warm , moist areas
Because they form in thunderstorms tornadoes are usually accompanied by lightning, but they do not cause it.
Yes, in fact tornadoes can only be formed by thunderstorms.
Yes. Cyclones often produce thunderstorms, and tornado occur during thunderstorms. So both are commonly accompanied by lighting.
Thunderstorms are associated with cumulonimbus clouds. However, cumulonimbus clouds do start off as cumulus.
It doesn't. Cumulonimbus clouds are the clouds of thunderstorms, as they are formed by towering convective cells. Tornadoes are a product of thunderstorms, but only a small percentage of thunderstorms are tornadic.
Thunderstorms form from cumulonimbus clouds.
