Drilling: It is first process in the petroleum extraction. The drilling is same like drilling for orifice in the wall, but it is large in scale. The machine that drill the well is called as " Drilling rig". The drilling rig has main four function.

a. Rig Power System: Either by diesel engines or by electric engines

b. Hoisting System:

c. Circulating System

d. Rotary system

e. Well control system: By BOPs, like Pipe Ram, Annular Preventor, and Shear Ram etc.
