Windows can break even in a weak tornado, and if you are near those windows you can easily by injured or killed by broken glass. Additionally, windows offer not protection against flying debris, the most common cause of injury and death in a tornado. I deally, you should put as many walls between yourself and the tornado as possible.

Grove, OK was recently hit by the tornadoes that went through Oklahoma. Much of that storm's devastation was in Moore, OK, but Grove was hit as well.
Oklahoma City has been hit by many tornadoes. The most famous Oklahoma City tornado was the one which struck on May 3, 1999. That tornado was a mile wide and was rated F5.
