There are many ways in which the Boscastle floodings could be prevented. Building flood warning systems could warn people so they could evacuate the area but this wouldn't be efficient. The best thing to do would be, extend the river, so that more water can he held inside the river.
Lots of people lost their homes and jobs because the local shops where flooded. Boscastle thrived mainly on tourism, so the floods destroyed a large part of its income. Electricity supplies were disrupted, trees were uprooted and bridges were damaged. Many people also lost their cars as the wall of water swept through the village and took the cars along, down to the sea.
Luckily nobody died in the Boscastle flood 1963 and several people were injured!

No. There were many people air-lifted off the top of their houses and more taken from the flood water but none were killed.
no one was killed
No one was killed or seriously injured in the flood.
202mm, but then the rain went into the river near by and then that would have made even more. the flood was crazy but i visited Boscatle in 2010 and you wouldn't believe how well it has been rebuilt. Also one months amount of rain fell in at least 2-3 hours! (hope this helps)
