it needs to bond twice
The bond between oxygen atoms in gaseous oxygen is a covalent bond. In this type of bond, the atoms share electrons to form a stable molecule.
A double nonpolar covalent bond in the common kind with formula O2.
because calcium is a group 2 element which makes it a metal an oxygen is a group 6 element which makes it a a nonmetal. calcium have to lose 2 electrons to become iso-electronic to neon (to become stable) and oxygen need two electron's to become iso-electronic to neon as well (to become stable) calcium transfer its 2 electrons to oxygen its will become stable and so will oxygen. because this type of bonding took place between a metal an a nonmetal its refers to as a ionic bonding and the compound which form as a result of this type of bonding is known as a ionic compound
Sodium Ions would be attracted to Oxygen Ions because in all elements there are layers of electrons, the first layer is always 2 electrons, but all the layers after that have to be 8 electons otherwise they arent stable, which is why elements have charges. It is all elements goal to be stable meaning having an outer layer with 8 electrons. So because Sodium (NA) has an ionic charge of +1 that means it has one to many electrons to be stable, so its goal is to lose one electron. Oxygen has an Ionic charge of -2 because it needs two more electorns to become stable. So Sodium is attracted to Oxygen because 2 sodium will bond with 1 oxygen thereore the sodium have one electron to give up and when they both (2NA) give theirs up there is 2 electrons left, when combining with oxygen (which needs two electrons to become stable) they bond and become a balanced compound. 2NaO
H2O has a covalent bond between Hydrogen and Oxygen atoms. They share electrons and hence achieve noble gas configuration. The covalent bond present is a polar bond.
STABLE
The bond between O and H is covalent. In a covalent bond, atoms share electrons to fill their outer electron shell and become stable. Oxygen and hydrogen form a covalent bond by sharing electrons to create a stable water molecule.
Carbon dioxide has a higher bond order compared to water. This is due to the stronger bond that forms between carbon and oxygen, which is greater than the bond between hydrogen and oxygen.
The bond between oxygen atoms in gaseous oxygen is a covalent bond. In this type of bond, the atoms share electrons to form a stable molecule.
The chemical bond in oxygen fluoride (OF₂) is a covalent bond. This means that the atoms share electrons to form the bond, resulting in a stable molecule.
Ionic bond.
A covalent bond is formed between oxygen atoms. In a covalent bond, atoms share electrons to achieve a stable electron configuration.
For a molecule of oxygen, O2, the bond is nonpolar covalent.
because calcium is a group 2 element which makes it a metal an oxygen is a group 6 element which makes it a a nonmetal. calcium have to lose 2 electrons to become iso-electronic to neon (to become stable) and oxygen need two electron's to become iso-electronic to neon as well (to become stable) calcium transfer its 2 electrons to oxygen its will become stable and so will oxygen. because this type of bonding took place between a metal an a nonmetal its refers to as a ionic bonding and the compound which form as a result of this type of bonding is known as a ionic compound
Ni(CO)4This is nickel carbonyl or Tetracarbonylnickel. It is an ionic bond.
A covalent bond is typically formed between oxygen and phosphorus. Oxygen and phosphorus can share electrons to achieve a stable electron configuration.
A double bond occurs between the oxygen atoms in oxygen gas. This means that they share two pairs of electrons, which creates a stable molecule of O2.
