Scientists are saying in a couple of years(about five to ten) the Earth will catch on fire, and it will be so hot that it's unbarable. They say that it will kill everyone and everything. They will be so big too, that there's no way to put them out.

Other people say that there will be a flood, or a freeze-over. I believe in the first one, but that's just me.

No they do not say anything of the sort. Whatever the reasons for the present climate change, and however much or little that change is anthropogenic, the idea that the Earth will be consumed by an inferno is just silly. Some desert areas may well become unbearable, and major forest fires may well become more common, and of course a lot of low-lying land would become flooded by the rising sea; but the actual temperature rise in degrees won't be very much. Obviously the planet itself cannot catch fire.

A freeze? Possibly but not for thousands of years yet. We are presently in an "interglacial" stage of an Ice Age, and geologically the Earth's climate is relatively cool as shown by the existence of the Polar ice-caps, but these intervals are rather longer than your suggested 2, 5 or 10 years! So the climate probably will warm further anyway, but the big question is the extent to which mankind's activities are accelerating or adding to the change.

Some archaea contribute to pollution and global warming with their release of?

methane gas, a potent greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming. Methanogenic archaea live in anaerobic environments like wetlands, rice paddies, and the digestive tracts of animals, where they produce methane as a byproduct of their metabolism.

Why is global warming a concern for some?

Those of us who are past childhood and early adulthood probably have less to fear from the consequences of global warming and can focus on the short-term economic advantages of doing nothing. But there are some who are concerned to leave the world as a good place for their children and grandchildren to live. For them, global warming means rising sea levels, more prolonged droughts, more frequent severe floods, more intense storm events, starvation and forced displacement of populations, and economic losses even in the rich nations.

Can you see global warming?

What does global importance mean?

Global importance is a term used to evaluate the importance or value of an issue based on how relevant or important it is to the rest of the world. For instance, global warming has a lot of global importance because it affects the entire globe where issues like high gas prices in Connecticut have low global importance because they only really affect the people that live in Connecticut

Does global warming happen fast or slow?

Surface temperature records indicate there has been about 0.6°C rise over the past 40 years. To place this within a historical perspective, 20,000 years ago earth was at the depth of an ice age. From 20,000 to 11,000 years ago the temperature rapidly increased about 8Ã° C. If we divide those nine thousand years into 40 year segments (to contrast with the past 40 years), we find the temperature rose about 0.04Ã°. 0.04Ã° every 40 years is about the fastest temperature appears to climb due to natural causes.0.6Ã°/.04Ã° indicates present climate change is fifteen times faster than that, and our climate models indicate the change is just barely getting started. Earth should continue warming in response to elevated CO2 levels for decades to come.No one can tell exactly how fast it will happen, every time they do a model they get a slightly different answer. Although it is too late to stop global warming, it is not too late to slow it down.A: Most of us do not take the whole world into consideration when thinking about global warming. Just because there have been unusually warm weather where you live doesn't mean everyone is experiencing warmer weather. On the other side of the world they could be having unusually cold weather. "Global warming" only means the overall average temperature continues an upward trend.Although the ice caps are melting, that doesn't mean they will shortly disappear. There are seasonal variations--as the south polar cap (Antarctica) grows the north polar cap shrinks, and vice versa. Antarctica currently is growing in extent on the east side, while continuing to shed mass (lose volume) overall. A: Global warming is happening as you read this. Global warming is happening fast and quickly and will not stop until we implement solutions. A: The more greenhouse gas pollution we put in the air the faster global warming will occur.Answer from the IPCC working group 1The physical science basis (see link): "For the global average, warming in the last century has occurred in two phases, from the 1910s to the 1940s (0.35Ã°C), and more strongly from the 1970s to the present (0.55Ã°C). An increasing rate of warming has taken place over the last 25 years, and 11 of the 12 warmest years on record have occurred in the past 12 years....[In addition to Instrumental records] confirmation of global warming comes from warming of the oceans, rising sea levels, glaciers melting, sea ice retreating in the Arctic and diminished snow cover in the Northern Hemisphere."

How long do white foxes live?

they used to live for 15 years but now is is 3-7 years because of the climate and global warming.

What are some things about polar bears?

they live in the arctic and are dying out because of global warming!

Is there a chance the the world will be too hot that no man can live or survive because of global warming?

probably

Is the Arctic endangered?

Yes because the ice is melting from global warming

What is going to happens to glaciers because of global warming?

they will melt and all the animals that live there might drown. :(

How have people contributed to an increase in earths temperature?

Global Warming. The polar bears and penguins and all the other animals who live on ice house or home is being ruined all because of global warming.

Will people have to live differently when global warming happens?

sometimes you have to dress differently watch out for plants.

Why should we save our earth?

Because we live on it, basically. Most of us also want to leave it in reasonable condition for our children and grandchildren. If we don't stop global warming, the earth is going to be very difficult to live on in 100 years time!

Doglobal warming make any impact?

Global warming can make an impact on the environment and the way people live. The global temperature raised 0.09 degrees in the 10 year period of 2002 through 2012. At the current rate it will take nearly 100 years for the global temperature to raise one degree.

Could you live without global warming?

No, we need a little bit of global warming, the same amount that we have had for millions of years. The natural greenhouse effect keeps just enough heat in the atmosphere to do this. Unfortunately, we started burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) and the carbon dioxide (CO2) released is causing the enhanced (or accelerated) greenhouse effect which is resulting in global warming.

Why do the changes in the Arctic make it more difficult for polar bears to survive?

Global warming? Well, if it was global warming, then yes it does effect the polar bears because if the ice caps melt, that means there is less surface area for them to live in, and also less food i guess.

Which animals does global warming affect the most and how?

global warming mostly affect the polar bears which live in the Arctic which is cold, and is getting warmer by time due to global warming. So polar bears a turning into an endangered species and people are designing them on Coke cans to help them. :)
