typhoons form when the following conditions are met

Their is a low pressure area

The water is warm (around 80'F)

the low pressure and warm water allow the water to evaporate and condense very rapidly and the earths spin causes the typhoon to spin.

However this does not happen around the equator as the force of the earths rotation is not strong enough. This is a good thing as if it did not happen like this the areas there would have an endless hurricane season
