Double ZapperYes. In fact, visible lightning usually comes up from the ground into the cloud! The lightning bolt is actually retracing a path of weak electricity that the cloud sent down as a sort of "feeler" sensing for the shortest path to take to the ground. So if you're in an open space during a lightning storm, and you feel your hair stand up from static electricity, you might want to run for cover!
Sheet lightning, or more accurately intracloud lightning is the same as lightning that hits the ground, the only difference is that it is within the cloud. They are no different apart from that. They are the exact same thing, except one would take a different path. They are both dangerous.
Lighting is electricity, and the charge follows the path of least resistance to "ground" and that would be a line sometimes zig-zaging along the before mentioned path of least resistance to the ground or other cloud with an oposing charge. that is why hills, and other raised structures are struck more frequently than flat ground, this provides the charge a quicker route to ground.
fogfogA cloud that forms close to the ground is known as a stratus cloud.
The source of lightning in thunderhead clouds is when there is a significant amount of ice in the cloud, most likely hail and there are 2 differing charges in 2 areas. The negative charge is at the bottom of the cloud, while the positive charge is at the top of the cloud. The ground is positively charge until there is an electrical discharge between the negatively charged cloud base and the positively charged ground, then it becomes mostly negative which then can open up the opportunity for a lightning bolt to jump from the top of the cloud, all the way down to the ground in another electrical discharge that is of greater electrical potential (voltage) than the first electrical discharge between the cloud base and the ground. This is because it takes more voltage to have a visible electrical discharge over a longer distance. There has to be 30,000 volts/cm of distance for a visible electrical discharge to occur.
In most cases it is lightning. Any cloud-to-ground lighting bolt can kill while rain is usually harmless. Rain, too, can be dangerous if it leads to flooding.
Tornadoes kill more people and cause more damage than lighting.

Yes, its more likely as the humidity increases.

They are quite similar.Clouds are formed more higher up and are much thicker.Fog is formed lower down and is not as thick as a cloud. They are the same. Fog is a very low cloud. They can be the same density. The scientific terminoly for fog is = Fog is a cloud that is in contact with the ground. The only difference is the ground but a cloud may be considered partly fog; for example, the part of a cloud that is suspended in the air above the ground is not considered fog but the part of the cloud that comes in contact with higher ground is considered fog.
The height above the ground or water of the base of the lowest layer of cloud below 6000 meters (20,000 feet) covering more than half the sky.
At high altitudes, where the air and cloud cover are thinner, it allows more damaging UV rays to get through the atmosphere.
