It's an element - Pt, number 78, on the Table of Elements.
Compounds are molecules which are formed via a combination of elements, such as water (H2O) cellulose (C6H10O5), etc.

Platinum is not a compound, it is an element represented by the symbol Pt on the Periodic Table of Elements.

Yes it reacts. In general, anything that isn't noble (in the right most column of the periodic table) reacts. Platinum (Pt) actually reacts fairly well with anions:
"Pt(s) + 2Cl2(g) PtCl4(s) [red brown]
Pt(s) + 2Br2(g) PtBr4(s) [brown black]
Pt(s) + 2I2(g) PtI4(s) [brown black]"
