I have some serpentine beads (though they were sold just as "green/black beads" at Walmart) and a serpentine tumbled stone... the beads stick to a rare earth magnet but the tumbled one does not. Maybe the serpentine that you have is like the beads from walmart... man-made with materials that are magnetic. I don't think real serpentine sticks.
