The overwhelming consensus among climate scientists is that human emissions of forty billion (40,000,000,000) tons of heat trapping CO2 per year (largely derived from fossil sources) has trapped additional heat, as measured on a global scale.

1. We are releasing too much carbon dioxide by burning oil and coal for electricity and transport.
2. Our demand for beef means that billions of cattle belch out methane, another greenhouse gas, far more dangerous than CO2.
3. We cut down vast forests all over the world so that beef cattle can graze.
4. We are not prepared to cut back on any of this.

If the earth's temperature increases by more than 2 degrees there will be millions of people with no food supplies and much of our present fertile land will become desert.

I can say for sure that global warming is happening. The year 2010 had the warmest global average temperature on record, fractionally warmer than 2005 and 1998, but as the difference is slight, the three years are regarded as the equal hottest. The past decade was the warmest since instrumental measurement began in 1850, and the ten warmest years since 1850 (when temperature records began) have now all occurred since 1998.

I can say for sure that glaciers are beginning to recede and that sea levels have begun to rise, as a result of glacial melt and the expansion of warmer sea water. The rise for the whole of the twentieth century was 20 centimetres. As recently as 2007, the Intergovernmental Panel on climate change predicted a further rise of 59 centimetres for the twenty first century, but recent data has now resulted in the United Nations Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Program to revise this prediction upwards, to 0.9-1.5 metres.

I can say for sure that we are experiencing an alarming number of extreme weather events: so far this year there have been catastrophic floods in areas such as Pakistan, China and Australia; there has been an unusual level of typhoon activity, even in New Zealand; and other weather extremes have been reported. While no single weather event can definitely be attributed to climate change, the overall effects corresponds to predictions of climate change.

No, we have melting glaciers, the temperatures are hotter than they have been for centuries, and there is drought. Just look at what is happening in states like TX and CA heat records are getting broken. This is climate change no doubt about it.

Yes, the climate is changing. The climate is ALWAYS changing. And it always HAS changed. The current hysteria about "global warming" or "global cooling" or "climate change", or whatever the Chicken Littles are calling it this year, is pointless and foolish.

Consider; the glaciers and ice in Greenland are melting, slowly. We know this because the retreating ice is revealing the foundations of Viking farm buildings that were constructed a thousand years ago, during the LAST warm period. But it's still too cold to farm in Greenland; it was warmer a thousand years ago!

General George Washington's army used horses to drag cannons across the frozen Hudson River during the Revolutionary War. The Hudson doesn't freeze solidly enough to walk on, much less drag cannon over. It was colder then!

When the Romans ruled England, the Roman farmers had wine grape vineyards. It's too cold to make good wine in London (although it's getting better!). The world was warmer 2000 years ago!
