Silt particles are 0.05 to 0.002 mm and feel similar to flour when dry. Clay particles are extremely fine — smaller than 0.002 mm. They feel sticky in your fingers when wet and clump to the point that you can't see an individual particle without a microscope.
Humidity describes how much water vapor is in the air. Humidity is what makes you feel sticky and moist on hot summer days.
Sandy soil makes the soil feel gritty. The texture of the soil is rough, not smooth.

You should feel if the soil is moist or not if the soil is dry then you should feed it the amount you feel comfortable with (becareful not to feed it to much water) if it is nice and moist then leave it until the soil starts getting dry!
It is kinda red, partially moist, but dries out easily. It is also sort of rubbery. It can be hard to break, as it is very solid. Hope that's what you mean! =~)
The consistency of a cloth that is submerged and then wrung out is how moist materials should be in the compost pile.
