A meander is a few simple curves in a river. If there are many or they are complex, then a scroll plain is a name for the finished product, with its many oxbow lakes.

In connection with the US Army Engineers having shortened the course of the Mississippi River by removing many of the meanders and oxbow bends; Mark Twain remarked that a believer in extrapolation would be able to extrapolate the length of the river to the Silurian, when it hung out over the Gulf of Mexico like a fishing rod!
The specific name for a loop in a river is a 'meander'. The end of the river, near the mouth (where it meets the sea) is called the delta, and the river can appear to form many loops around a series of islands - this is called a 'braided channel'. A meander loop of river that has become cut off from the main river (by errosion and deposition forming a stagnant pool is called an 'oxbow lake' or (in Australia) a billabong.

As far as I recall from my geography this is an 'Oxbow' bend, so-called because of the shape of the animals horns. Whether or not there is a term for the resulting cliff caused by the underctting action of the water I don't know.

a curve... Well that could be an answer however it is not possible to have a bend or a curve 'in' a straight road. A curve or bend is, by definition, after the end of one straight section and before the beginning of the next; so it can not be 'in' a straight road.
