the Paleozoic era
Since the Mixedwood Plains has a wet climate and plenty of precipitaion, the soil is mostly leached. Leached soil means that the soil has been exposed to too much wanter and the nutrients have sunken deep intothe ground so that the roots of the plant cannot reach them. At the same time, the mixedwood Plains has soil that is fertile and abundant for farming.

The boreal plains are characterized by a mix of forests, wetlands, and grasslands. Coniferous trees such as spruce and pine are common, along with birch and aspen. Wetlands like bogs and fens are also prevalent in the region, supporting unique plant species adapted to moist conditions. Grasslands can be found in areas where the soil is too poor to support tree growth.
Structural plains: These are the extensive lowlands of the earth bordering all the continents. These plains are mainly formed by the up liftment of a part of the sea-floor or continental shelf. The south eastern plains of the United States formed by the up liftment of a part of the Gulf of Mexico are an example of this type of plains. The structural plains may also be formed by the subsidence of areas. One such example is the central low-lands of Australia.
The hypothesis is that the smooth plains on Mercury were formed by volcanic activity, where lava flooded the surface and created vast plains of solidified rock. This volcanic activity is thought to have occurred early in Mercury's history, filling in low-lying areas and creating the flat plains we see today.
