When sedimentary rocks are first laid down their layers (bedding) are tangential to the earths surface (essentially they look flat).
They remain like this unless two of the earths continental plates on which the flat bedded rocks are deposited crash together. When they crash together, the layers are squashed horizontally and become deformed as a result.
Frequently this deformation causes the layers to fold (like scrunching paper) to accommodate and the result is folded rocks.
Synclines are downward arches of folded rocks.

If the strata layers are folded or tilted then the older rocks can be found on top of the younger rocks in a cross-section.
It's rocks are severely bent and folded.
If rocks are folded, the folding is younger that the youngest rock affected. If they are folded into a syncline (a U-shaped fold) the youngest rocks are in the core of he fold. The opposite is true for an anticline (a big dome-shaped fold).

Mount Everest is made up of sedimentary rocks.

Folded Mountain
They are the part of sedimentary rocks that forms the crest of a folding during deformation. They are also called Anticlines.
The two continents of Africa and Eurasia pushed together and folded the rocks into mountains.
It's rocks are severely bent and folded.
rocky moutains form when rocks are being pushed together.
