There are plenty of different types of generators that exist, and wind generators are used in various parts of the country. Of course, wind generators must be used in regions where there is plenty of wind to power the generator. Wind generators, however, are usually unsuited to act as the main source of power, so they should only be used as a secondary source of power alongside electricity or solar power. Most people know what these generators look like, as they resemble windmills or large fans.

Wind Generators work by having the wind turn the turbines to produce power. Conveniently, they can power pretty much anything, as long as there is a sufficient supply of wind in the area. Since the generator will stop working if the air flow ceases, it is almost necessary to have another source of energy that can start up as soon as the wind generator stops.

There are some downsides to wind generators. First of all, it takes more than a single generator to create a sufficient amount of power. Wind farms are necessary to catch enough wind and create enough power to keep any piece of machinery going. Obviously, the average person can’t afford to set up a wind farm with wind generators, so mostly companies embark on such a task. Also, wind farms become useful if there is no wind breeze and they can’t be used all the time because of this fact. Anyone considering using a wind generator should weigh the costs and requirements carefully. Without the proper amount of generators, nothing will receive enough power to work properly, and the generators will be rendered utterly useless.

Wind generators have some benefits though. For the environment, the wind generators don’t need any natural gas to work, so they do not emit pollution. Anyone who follows the green movement will find wind generators to be a great option. On the other hand, plenty of pollution is created in order to produce wind generators and place them into the ground. For anyone that has the money, wind generators can be a helpful and conservative secondary power source. They can be costly though.

No. Prevailing winds are global wind patterns that dictate the general movement of weather in different latitudes.
