An element is a substance made up of only one type of atom. It cannot be simplified any further; you can't split up an element. See periodictable.com for the elements discovered.

The chemical elements have both physical characteristicsand chemical characteristics. Each element has a set of each type of characteristics, and to discover them all, it is necessary to go through the Periodic Table element by element. (The limits of this forum probably won't allow posting all of them.) During a review, the investigator will be able to skim the two types of characteristics for each element.

A link can be found below to an interactive periodic table where each "tile" representing an element is a link to a post on that element. A fairly good body of facts is posted for each element, and it is wise to at least look at the table and perhaps bookmark it.
