To supply meat for their burgers they have to have space to keep their cattle and let them graze. Sometimes-mostly-there isn't enough space so they send people to chop down big areas of the forest therfore affecting the animals who live in trees, the food chain and lots more and when they have a bigger amount of livestock they cut down even more trees and repeting the process.

A good and well organized restaurant will not have much unusual effect on the environment.

But some restaurants discard a lot of food scraps. These should not be trashed but should be collected for compost or for feeding animals or even humans.

Some restaurants waste a lot of water. Some run water continuously to keep their stoves cool. With proper planning and equipment this could be stopped and a lot of water saved.

One of the biggest contributors to global warming is industrial agriculture. Fossil fuels are used to create the fertilizers and pesticides that are heavily sprayed all over the fields where crops are grown. Then more fossil fuels are burned to power the heavy equipment used for plowing, planting, fertilizing, spraying, and harvesting. Then more fossil fuels are used to ship the foods much further than necessary to the factory where the food is highly altered, using yet more fossil fuels. Then the food is heated up at your local fast food joint.

Fast food and slow food both contribute to global warming through their carbon footprint: the amount of energy used to produce, transport, cook and serve your food. A fresh vegetable grown in your garden has no carbon footprint compared with a kilo of steak frozen and flown half way round the world.
