iron is the main constituent. carbon is the only other REQUIRED element, at 0.2% to oh, maybe 4% by weight, above which it becomes cast iron. I'd have to look the exact percentages up, but the elements are accurate. Lots of other elements can be mixed in (silicon, aluminum, titanium, vanadium, chrome, nickel, manganese, many more... to make various grades of steel with a variety of characteristecs, but these are all variations on the theme of iron + carbon.

Is stainless steel spoon an element or a mixture or a compound?

A stainless steel spoon is considered a mixture. Stainless steel is made up of a combination of elements, primarily iron, chromium, and nickel, along with other trace elements. Each of these elements retains its own chemical properties within the mixture, making it a heterogeneous combination rather than a compound with a fixed chemical composition.

Is steel an element or compound?

Steel is neither, but it is a mixture of iron with carbon

Which best describes stainless steel mixture or element or ore or mineral?

Stainless steel is an alloy, not a pure element or mineral. It is primarily made of iron, chromium, and other elements like nickel and manganese. These components are combined in specific proportions to create a material that is resistant to corrosion and staining.

What is the Chemical formula for stainless steel?

The chemical formula for stainless steel can vary depending on its composition, but a common formula for a typical stainless steel alloy is FeCrNi, which represents iron (Fe), chromium (Cr), and nickel (Ni). These elements are essential for providing stainless steel with its corrosion-resistant properties. Stainless steel may also contain other elements such as molybdenum, manganese, or carbon, which can further enhance its strength and durability.

Is soil a mixture or pure substance?

soil is a mixture because it isn't made up of any elements or any combined elements(compounds). instead soil is a mixture of weathered rock, organic matter, water, and air

How many cubic inches of steel equals an ounce?

The question cannot be answered since steel is a mixture of metals and non-metallic elements and so different forms of steel have different densities. Is steel a real metal?

steel is a mixture of metal elements which commonly include copper, iron, zinc and magnesium.

Is stainless steel a pure substance or a mixture?

No; steel is an iron-carbon alloy. Stainless steel is an alloy of steel with chromium added. Stainless steel is usually 13-25% chromium (by weight).

Is steel a pure substance or mixture is it an element or compound?

Oh, dude, steel is actually an alloy, which is a mixture of different elements, mainly iron and carbon. So, it's not a pure substance, but it's also not a compound or an element. It's like the cool kid who hangs out with a diverse group of friends.

Is steel a mixture or element or compound?

Steel is considered a mixture because it is composed of iron and carbon alongside other elements in varying proportions. It is not a pure element or compound but rather a combination of different substances.

Is steel alloy a element or compound?

mixture

Is steel an element compound pure substance or mixture?

Steel is an alloy- which is a compound, or intermixture. So it is not an element or pure substance.

Is stainless steel a homogeneous or heterogeneous mixture?

Stainless steel is a metal alloy. All metal alloys are a Heterogeneous mixture because the elements contained therein are not chemically bonded. If heated, stainless steel forks, for instance, would separate into their component metals according to density.

Is steel an element or a compound?

It is neither an element not a compound. Steel is an alloy. An alloy is a mixture of a metal and another element. In the case of steel, it is principally iron (an element), with about 0.2% to 2,0% carbon ( an element), mixed in. Other elements can be mixed in , e.g. chromium to form Stainless Steel, or Tungsten to form hard wearing steel.

Is steel wool an element or mixture?

Steel wool is a mixture.
