A soil survey consists of three main parts:text, maps, and tables.
Soil type "FeD" is the abbreviation for a soil map unit, and it is specific to the soil map/survey. That is, more than one soil survey might have labeled a map unit "FeD," and each soil survey might use that abbreviation to represent a completely different soil. Look in the soil survey book where you found FeD. If you found this on the USDA's Web Soil Survey, the soil name should have been supplied in the legend.
There are generally three main types of soil: sand, silt, and clay. These three types can also combine to form loam soil, which is considered ideal for gardening and agriculture.
basic soil consists of sand, silt, and clay. there may be stones, water, and organic matter present.
Soil survey is important in order to check that the soil present in the farm is suitable or not for the crop which is to be grown. Also, we can check that the soil is acidic, basic, neutral. It helps farmers for a better crop production. That is why soil survey is important.
The three parts of a soil profile are the topsoil, subsoil, and parent material. The topsoil is the uppermost layer where plants grow and contains organic matter. The subsoil is beneath the topsoil and is where minerals and nutrients leach down from the topsoil. The parent material is the bottom layer, consisting of unweathered rock or sediment that soil is formed from.
