Now fossil fuels look like coal (black, dusty rock), oil (black sticky liquid) and natural gas (colorless gas).

When fossil fuels were alive they were a variety of vegetation, plants, trees and animals. Some of the animals would have been dinosaurs. When they all died they were gradually covered with earth and rock and eventually experienced huge pressure and high temperature. This began hundreds of millions of years ago to produce the fossil fuels of today. your mum!

I found the two answers in a dictonary.

1. fossil fuel

noun Energy .

any combustible organic material, as oil, coal, or natural gas, derived from the remains of former life.

2. fossil fuel

A hydrocarbon deposit, such as petroleum, coal, or natural gas, derived from the accumulated remains of ancient plants and animals and used as fuel. carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases generated by burning fossil fuels are considered to be one of the principal causes of global warming.

I know the question is how do I describe it, but I couldn't think of anything and didn't want to leave this blank.

How do you get fossils fuels?

to get fossil fuels we have to do many things. Fossil fuel is created by animals and plants that died millions of years ago that got crushed in the earth. To get fossil fuels we have to look for a place that have dead things in the ground. We, then, have to put together the things to get to it. We send down machines to get it out. Having fossil fuels is good and bad. It is good because it is easy to transport from places to places and it is cheap. The bad thing about it is that it creats alot of air pollution when burned and there is not a lot left. I hope this help you :)

How is petroleum recovered from the ground?

Petroleum is recovered from the ground by drilling deeply into the ground. There are also many other Fossil Fuels, if you would like to look them up. They are all taken from the ground.

What did the plants and animals look like before they turned into fossil fuel?

Fossil fuels come from decayed plants and animals. Oil typically comes from dead marine life. Coal comes from decaying plants. So, before they are transformed into fuels (which can take millions of years), the decaying organic material is likely to be brown. Of course, before they die, the plants and animal look just like they do today.
