In general it blows from the west in every season as a result of the Westerlies. This backs to the northwest or north after a cold front and typically after a storm moves through to bring in cooler air, and veers out of the south and southwest ahead of these cyclones to bring in warm and humid air. It can come from the east, but only for short periods of time.

In the summer, prevailing winds in Ohio typically blow from the south and southwest. This airflow brings warm, moist air into the region from the Gulf of Mexico.
