The Great Serpent is a mythical creation signifying the conflict inherent in our human nature.

The serpent is the deceiver conditioned in our human minds. It is the same serpent (mind) that tempted Cain to slew his brother Abel which he later regretted. Sometimes we have thoughts that tempt us over and over, do such and such an evil thing, and we lose our strength to resist and when we comply we later fall to regret and shame and fear like Adam and Eve and Cain did. Jesus said to be wise as Serpents and gentle as Doves. Both these natures are present in us - the tree of knowledge of good and evil being the production of our minds; the tree of life being the production of our spirit. The tree of knowledge of good and evil is a naked tree bring no fruits. What good is knowledge of good and evil without the power and wisdom to do what is right? Wisdom excels knowledge. The tree of life is the life of love. When the seed of love is planted in the fertile soil of a soft heart it germinates and matures in to a flourishing tree baring many manners of fruits:

  1. Love
  2. Joy
  3. Peace
  4. Longsuffering
  5. Kindness
  6. Goodness
  7. Faithfulness
  8. Gentleness
  9. Self-control

The Great Flood represents the cleansing of our souls: think transformation and renewal. The butterfly effect where the caterpillar mutates in to a butterfly transcending the limited life of the catepillar. It's not the end but a new beginning - from land to air, from abominable to sacred.
