melting point of alcohol is 159 kelvin, that means it will solidify only at thistemperature. where as melting point of Mercury is 234 kelvin. after this temperature it does not remain liquid at all . hence can not be used to take the readingsin the same way.

Is Fahrenheit hot or cold?

Fahrenheit is a temperature scale used to measure heat. It is neither inherently hot nor cold, but rather a unit of measurement. In the Fahrenheit scale, water freezes at 32 degrees and boils at 212 degrees, with temperatures in between indicating varying degrees of warmth or coldness.

What is cryotechnology?

Cryotechnology involves the use of extremely low temperatures for various applications, such as medical treatments, preserving biological samples, and cooling electronic devices. This technology leverages the unique properties of cryogenic temperatures to enhance performance and functionality in a wide range of fields.

Can use medical electronic thermometer to measure air temperature?

It is not recommended to use a medical electronic thermometer to measure air temperature as it is designed specifically for measuring human body temperature. For accurate air temperature readings, it is best to use a thermometer designed for environmental measurements.

Why would you use alcohol in an arctic thermometer?

Elemental mercury changes to solid-state at -38.8oC, so anything below that will not be recorded. Most places in the world, this isn't important, but at both poles temperatures can drop below this temperature, so for accurate temperature recording, a mercury thermometer is inappropriate. That said, if it's for your own personal use, the difference between -38 and -40 is irrelevant, it's just plain cold!

What would happen if you used a clinical thermometer to measure a hot drink?

Using a clinical thermometer to measure a hot drink can result in inaccurate readings as most clinical thermometers are not designed to measure temperatures of hot drinks. This can damage the thermometer and give false temperature values. It is recommended to use a thermometer specifically designed for measuring high temperatures in such cases.

How can you tell warm from cold?

You can tell warm from cold by observing how the temperature feels on your skin. Warm temperatures feel comfortable and may cause you to sweat, while cold temperatures feel chilly and can make you shiver. You can also use a thermometer to measure the exact temperature of an object or environment.

How would you use extremely in a sentence?

Example: It was extremely cold yesterday.

You are planning to go to a very cold place where the night temperature drops to minus 50 deg c which thermometer will you take with you- mercury or alcohol and why?

I would take an alcohol thermometer because it can accurately measure temperatures as low as -70 degrees Celsius, whereas a mercury thermometer may not work reliably at such low temperatures. Additionally, alcohol is less likely to freeze at extremely cold temperatures compared to mercury.

The use of thermometer?

the thermometer is used to measure the temperatures.

Where do use a liquid themometer?

Until the advent of digital thermometers, liquid ones were used in most domestic situations: to measure the air temperature, body temperature (to check for fever), cooking temperatures, fridge temperatures (to ensure that they were cold enough).

Would you use alcohol or Mercury in a thermometer if you wanted to measure tempatures at the North pole?

Alcohol would be used in a thermometer to measure temperatures at the North Pole because it has a lower freezing point than Mercury. Alcohol remains liquid at colder temperatures, making it suitable for use in extreme cold environments like the North Pole. Mercury would freeze at the very low temperatures experienced at the North Pole.

Does starting a car use more gas than idling it?

In cold temperatures yes, once the engine is at operating temperatures or in warm temperatures no.

What is the use of crucible?

A crucible is used to contain chemical compounds when heated to extremely high temperatures.

Would you use grams to measure the mass of a staple?

What unit do scientists use to measure the surface temperatures of stars?

Kelvin (K)

How do scientists measure temperature in cold places?

Scientists measure temperature in cold places using thermometers or data loggers that are specifically designed for low temperatures. These instruments are calibrated to accurately record temperature readings in extreme cold conditions. Additionally, researchers may use remote sensing techniques such as satellite data to monitor temperature in remote cold environments.

Why does animals use outer coverings for?
