Oxygen allow our bodies to breathe and live. The amount of oxygen needed will depend on the activity. For instance, when exercising, you would need more oxygen than if you are sitting at rest.

Oxygen in the blood does verly little. The vast majority of oxygen in the blood is bound to a protein called heamoglobin (Hb). This protein has frour parts that each contain 1 iron molecule. The iron molecure is what the oxygen binds to, when this happens it turns the molecule red which is why blood is coloured. The reason oxygen has to do this is that it is not very capable of disolving directly into the plasma as it is nonpoplar. The heamoglobin is also not free in the plasma it is contained with Red Blood Cells, which are specialized cells that are only really there to carry heamoglobin. The oxygen is carried of to every single cell in your body where it can be used for cellular metabolism (this is where your food molecures are broken down). Interestingly red blood cells do not need oxygen for their metabolism as they do not have special parts called mitochondria. The reason being that if they could use the oxygen then they would and they wouldn't carry any for any other cells.

The oxygen that you breathe is involved in aerobic cellular respiration. It is the last electron acceptor in the electron transport chain, and then combines with hydrogen to form water. Without oxygen, electron transport cannot continue because the electrons and hydrogen would get backed up. If this happens, the organism, including humans, will die.

Oxygen is what we breath. It allows our body to turn food into energy, and makes cellular respiration possible.

What two elements make oxygen when they react?

Oxygen is an element - the only thing that composes oxygen are oxygen atoms. Oxygen found naturally (molecular oxygen) is formed from two atoms of oxygen, O2.

How many atoms are there in oxygen and what are they?

Oxygen is a gas composed of oxygen molecules. A stable oxygen molecule is made from two oxygen atoms, represented as O2.

Is oxygen 17 and oxygen 18 the same isotopes of oxygen?

they are different isotopes of oxygen, oxygen-17 has one more neutron than oxygen-16 making it slightly heavier. Oxygen-17 will react slightly slower than oxygen-16 since it has more mass.

What has the most oxygen in it?

The oxygen molecule, the form of oxygen found in the Earth's atmosphere, is 100% oxygen. There fore it is the material that has the most oxygen in it.
