Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the gas released from burning fossil fuels. It is the most significant gas contributing to global warming.
Fossil fuels are comprised largely of carbon and/or hydrocarbons. The carbon is the significant element in the reaction. It combines with oxygen to form CO and CO2 (mostly CO2). Oxidation reduction of hydrocarbons yields CO2 (carbon dioxide) and H2O (water vapor).
Human activity accounts for 30 billion (30,000,000,000) tons of CO2 added to the atmosphere each year. This exceeds the amount output by all earth's volcanoes 150 times.
CO2 is not as potent a greenhouse gas as methane (CH4) or other gasses, but we are liberating more of it than we are any others, by a wide margin.
Burning natural gas contributes least to Global Warming.
Pollution is released into the atmosphere. ..
Because it causes global warming
Carbon Dioxide released by the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation. (CO2 contributes 61% to global warming) Methane released from agriculture, and biological activities, including decomposition at landfills. (Accounts for 15% of global warming.) Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) are man-made chemicals used in refrigerators and other industrial applications. (Accounts for 12% of global warming). Nitrous oxides from fertilizers and fossil fuel burning (4%) Others: ozone, halons, water vapour (8%) *from Callan, S.J. and J.M. Thomas. 2000. buring fossil fuels contributes to gloadl warming, and acidic lakes due to acid rain, from the burning in oxygen. it also uses resources
The gas released from the burning of fossil fuels that contributes to global warming is carbon dioxide (CO2).

carbon dioxide.
Chemicals released from burning coal cause pollution in the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide contributes to global warming. Other pollutants cause acid rain.
Most electricity is produced by burning fossil fuels, which releases carbon dioxide which contributes to global warming
Any electricity generated by burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) contributes to global warming. Renewable energy does not contribute to global warming (except in a small way during equipment manufacture).Any electricity generated by burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) contributes to global warming. Methane (CH4).
Burning petrol or gasoline releases carbon dioxide, a powerful greenhouse gas.
The main ingredient in smoke (from burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas)) is carbon dioxide.
The major downside is pollution. The smoke from coal burning damages the environment and contributes to global warming. Some cities have such a huge problem with coal smoke that they are covered in smog.
The burning of fuel, particularly fossil fuel (coal, oil, natural gas) contributes to global warming and to air pollution. Air pollution contributes to lung disease such as asthma and emphysema.
