At a constructive plate boundary two plates move apart. As they move apart the magma from the magma chamber flows up to fill the gap. This causes a volcano. However, as the magma can escape easily it flows down the volcano with only a little bit of force. So it has a gentle erupt.

At a constructive plate boundary, new land is created. This happens because two plates crash into each other. One plate goes down and the other goes up. Not both plates go up. This creates mountains. When one plate is at the top, the top plate brakes of to create new land. Sometimes some lands are connected to the core of the earth.

Why does a constructive plate boundary produce a shield shape and a destructive plate boundary produce a cone shape?

Its to do with the viscosity of the lava, the thicker (more viscous) the lava the slower and less far it will travel making a shield volcano. This happens on a constructive plate boundary. on a destructive plate boundary the lava is less viscous and runs further making a conical shaped volcano
