Ferallitisation relates to soil - it can also be known as lateritization, where leaching elsewhere in the soil layers causes a deposition of oxides (specifically iron oxides) in a particular area, or layer, of the soil. It is NOT to be confused with fertilisation - which is the act of either nourishment, or the meeting of two gametes in reproduction.
