Molybdenum(II) Acetate is a diamagnetic, yellow crystalline solid has a structural formula of Mo2(OOCMe)4. It comprised of a Mo-Mo metal bond, with the 4 acetate groups acting as bridging groups between each of the metal centres.
The Mo-Mo bond is a quadruple bond, with 1*sigma, 2*pi and 1*delta bonding orbitals filled by electrons.
It typically occurs in the eclipsed conformation, to accommodate for the bridging groups.
