Greenhouse gases. They are- Carbon dioxide, Methane, Sulphur Dioxide, Nitrogen oxide and water vapour.
The name given to gases that trap heat and cause global warming is Greenhouse gases.
Global warming is the name given to the recent (over 200 years) gradual increase in the temperature of Earth's atmosphere.
When people tried to understand what was happening we started talking about climate change (as well as global warming).Global warming is the cause. Climate change is the result. They are really two different things.Burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) and deforestation (cutting down trees which previously removed carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere) put extra greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. These gases trap more of the sun's heat (greenhouse effect), causing global warming. The warming of the earth, the atmosphere and the oceans has one huge effect. It is changing the climate.

Global warming is not any one single event. A day might be hotter than usual, or even during a period of rapid warming (such as is occurring now), any given day might be cooler than average. Even one year of unusually warm weather, by itself, does not qualify as evidence of global warming. The summer of 2012 in the US was the warmest on record. When compared against the five year average across many decades, a clear warming trend is established. Similarly, we had a couple of fairly cool years in the 1970s. That didn't mean the earth was cooling. But what has the long term trend been? Another example of an effect of global warming is the extent of arctic sea ice. This year it is the smallest ever recorded. That could be significant unless it was offset by gains in Antarctic ice. It wasn't.

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is given a Global Warming Potential measure of 1.There are many green house gases that cause global warming but the gas used as reference to calculate global warming potential is carbon dioxide (Co2)
I am not 100% sure but i think it is called "Greenhouse gases"

No! The ozone layer is completely separate from global warming. Ozone levels are affected by chemical compounds called CFCs, which are no longer used in most countries, but used to be in aerosol sprays and fridges. Global warming is affected by levels of greenhouse gasses, like carbon dioxide, trapping heat from the sun in the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is given off from cars and when electricity is produced.

It is the combustion of petroleum which causes global warming. This is bcause petroleum is mostly made up of hydrocarbons. The combustion is given by the chemical equation: 2 C8H18 + 25 O2 -> 16 CO2 + 18 H2O. It is rather obvious now that carbon dioxide is one of the main greenhouse gases which contributes to global warming. Therefore, petroleum does not directly cause global warming. Industrial activites and motor engines which require combustion of petroleum for energy release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, thus causing global warming. Hence we can establish that petroleum is an indirect cause.Read more: Does_petroleum_cause_global_warming
yes i kind of thought the term "global" would have given that one away. Obviously not
The warming of the earth due to increased levels of carbon dioxide is called the Greenhouse effect. Global warming is a result of the greenhouse effect.
Because it's Eco-friendly and does not (possibly) emit gases which could contribute to global warming.

The example for greenhouse effect is in indoor farms. There it is used for planting trees.
