A Temperate (climate) zone.
Coast Mountains & the Islands: Generally an area of heavy precipitation. Apart from a wet regime, mild temperatures and long frost-free periods are the rule.
California has 3 climate zones. The first area is mild and wet in the winter and the summers are hot and dry. The second area has very little variance in winter and summer temperatures and also has little precipitation. In the third climate zone winter and summer temperatures vary with latitude and altitude, and there is little precipitation.
humid subtropical
The climate of the chaparral biome is very hot and dry. Winters there tend to be very mild, with temperatures of about 50 °F. The winter climate is also known as the Mediterranean climate, which while not very rainy, is typically mild and moist.
In the northern part of the coastal plains it is cold and snowy during the winter and hot and humid in the summer. In the southern part it is mild and warm in the winters and hot in the summer

Climates are classified based on temperature and precipitation patterns. The most commonly used classification system is the Koppen Climate Classification which divides climates into categories based on average monthly temperature and precipitation. This system helps identify and map different climate types around the world.
The climate in England ranges but has a warm summer with temperatures exceeding 21'C and a mild/cold winter depending on where you are.

water temperatures change more slowly than land temperatures.
A place where it is likely to be cold and dry is the desert. A desert can have a climate that is either hot, cold or mild with hardly no precipitation.
South Carolina has mild winters. The southern portion is the warmest. Temperatures decline to the northwest. Summers are very warm in South Carolina, with generally even temperatures. The northwest is slightly cooler. Rainfall is usually abundant throughout the state. The southeast and northwest receive the most precipitation. It's my belief that it was pretty much the same way when the state was a colony. So the climate is sub-tropical humid in some sort
California has the same climate as Southern Europe: a Mediterranean climate. A Mediterranean climate is described as a mild, rainy winter with a warm to hot summer. Temperatures can still be mild year round, rarely dropping below 10˚C or exceeding 26˚C.
cold and temperate usually with mild summers and mild winters(:
